Remembering the time when I ruined a McLaren Senna

Now, it’s not that often that we get to have a look around supercars, let alone hypercars, but there was a time in 2018 where I was basically given free roam of one of London’s most exclusive exotic car dealerships under the premise that I was doing a photoshoot for one of my final year university projects…which is true.

The dealership in question is a very well known Ferrari specialist in South London, and when I visited in early 2018, there was a lot of interesting stock which included a fully carbon fibre Ferrari Enzo, two Ferrari F50’s, Chris Evan’s Ferrari 250 SWB California (which sold for about £15 million), and this blue McLaren Senna which you can see in the photos.

Said McLaren Senna was still brand new at the time, with it covering just a few hundred miles, with pristine bodywork, interior and mechanical bits.

So how did I manage to ruin a car worth well over £800,000? Well, I was somewhat caught short while taking many photos of the track-focused hypercar. I had all my exterior and detail shots done of the car, which meant I had to get pictures of the lavish, yet spartan interior. So, I climbed into the driver’s seat of the Senna, which is surprisingly comfortable I might add, and started taking photos of the interior with my camera.

And then I felt the worst thing happen inside me. A fart was brewing. Now, with the seats on the Senna being covered in grippy Alcantara, I really didn’t want to let one off in a £800k piece of exotica, but it just slipped out as I was getting a close up of the lower window in the door frame.

Needless to say, I felt really bad that I basically ruined the car by farting in it, thus rendering the car valueless to the next owner if they were to do a biological test on the car.

However, the upside of the story is that I managed to spend a fair amount of time with one of my favourite modern hypercars and thanks to that trip, I passed that university module and got a degree out of it. Oh, and someone bought that Senna in the end so everyone wins.

We think Porsche’s next big reveal will be an electric 911
