If you’re looking to buy a car, you’re probably familiar with services like eBay, Bring a Trailer, AutoScount and others. These are brilliant platforms where you can find some cool and interesting cars.

But now, there’s a new contender called Cars and Bids, which has been set up by the king of quirks, Doug DeMuro. If you’re not familiar with Doug DeMuro, he is a YouTube personality with over 4 million subscribers across both of his channels, and he reviews all sorts of cars ranging from Mercedes G63 6x6’s to Trabants.

Cars and Bids specialises in more modern cars, meaning any car from the 1980s to today can be sold on Cars and Bids. In the announcement video, Doug outlined that he likes older cars but more newer enthusiast are interested in stuff from the 80s onward. Ourselves included.

One highlighted area are the auction fees. Unlike places like eBay who presents you a random, yet proportional fee at the end of the auction, Cars and Bids only asks for a 4.5% commission fee which is capped at $4500. However, if you want to sell your own car, sell fees start at just $49. There’s a lot more to it than those basic numbers, but more is explained on the Cars and Bids website.

At the time of writing, there are currently three cars for sale on Cars and Bids, with one being Doug DeMuro’s own Mercedes E63 AMG estate. Also, with Doug DeMuro’s name attached to the website, more people are inclined to take a look and bid on other people’s cars if they so chose too. At the minute, Doug has given each car a mini-review/opinion on each car currently for sale, which further adds to the appeal as it’s a neat way of Doug effectively reviewing your car.

Cars and Bids also has a neat feature by showing a live bidding bar, with a count down timer, number of bids on show, along with a live chat, which is the first we’ve seen from an auction website. It’s not a social media website though, as the main focus is to sell cool and interesting cars. Now, we’re not sure if it’s restricted to North America for now but it would be cool to see some European stuff on there.

We hope Cars and Bids does well, and grows to be a competent alternative to Bring a Trailer and eBay. You can check it out by clicking on these highlighted words.
